At the final phase of his life, Salazar, the man who ruled Portugal with an 'iron fist' during forty years, remembers his past, the options he took, the decisions he made, those he could have made and didn't make, and those that he refused to make. 

The film deals mostly with the women in the life of a man that never married and dedicated his life to his country, although in the worse possible way to the vast majority of his people. An insight to his personal life, kept unknown for decades.
