The 8th Portuguese Film Week

Films signed  by some of Portugal’s leading directors have regularly been shown in Israel, namely in the country's two most important international film festivals, held annualy in Jerusalem and Haifa. 

Naturally, this is the result of the increasing attention Portuguese cinema has been receiving worldwide. But the regular promotion of the Portuguese film industry made by the Embassy of Portugal has also contributed to the success of Portuguese films in Israel. 

Held each year during the month of September, the Portuguese Film Week has become an event established in the Israeli cultural scene. A joint venture of the Embassy of Portugal and the Cinematheques of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa, the Portuguese Film Week is a vehicle of promotion of contemporary Portuguese cinema -and of Portugal. In the past seven years, more than 50 feature films signed by the most important directors in Portugal have been exhibited in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa. 

This year, we are proud to present the 8th consecutive edition of the Portuguese Film Week, with a retrospective of António-Pedro Vasconcelos.
